This is a reproduction of the famous "Sgt. Hack Wants You For U.S. Army" t-shirt that was used as a recruiting tool in the early '70s by Sgt. David Hack (CEO of US Wings), who was the nation's #1 US Army recruiter from 1969-1973. This was an especially remarkable feat considering America's involvement in the Vietnam War & the strong anti-war climate of the '60s and '70s. In fact, the t-shirt was one of many unorthodox recruiting tools used by Sarge to reach out to potential enlistees. His unconventional methods garnered much local & national media attention and made this t-shirt quite popular; many celebrities and other notables from across the country wore this shirt!
Now, after 40 years (the original t-shirts date back to 1971) we are offering a reproduction of this shirt, silkscreened onto high quality heavy-weight tees, and making them available worldwide! A nostalgic blast from the past that looks great on both men & women, boys & girls! Colors: white, ash gray (light gray) or cream. Silkscreened in the USA. Available in adult & kid sizes.

Tuskegee Airmen T-Shirt

The Tuskegee Airmen were America's first African-American combat pilots, who gallantly fought the enemy on two fronts — the Germans in the skies over North Africa and Europe, and racial discrimination and intolerance on the home front. They derived their name from their training facilities, the Tuskegee Army Air Field and the Tuskegee Institute, in Alabama. A segregated unit, they were first formed as an "experiment" that was expected to fail. Rather than failing, they turned the "experiment" into a resounding success, and their exemplary combat record is now legendary.
The Tuskegee Airmen were known as the 332nd Fighter Group, comprised of the 99th, 100th, 301st, and 302nd Fighter Squadrons. The 332nd was the single largest fighter unit in the 15th AAF. Over 900 Tuskegee Airmen earned their wings, and 450 of them saw combat in WWII, flying P-39s, P-40s, P-47s and P-51s. They flew over 15,500 sorties and nearly 1600 missions throughout North Africa and Europe, earning for themselves 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses, over 700 Air Medals, and 3 Distinguished Unit Citations.
Our Tuskegee Airmen t-shirt is a tribute to these outstanding aerial warriors. The shirt is constructed from heavyweight 100% cotton for comfort & durability and features a small Tuskegee Airmen logo on the left front chest and a large action scene — depicting their distinctive red-tailed P-51s escorting a flight of B-24 Liberators — on the back. Color: sand.
